Why does the mouse pointer keep disappearing on civilization IV: colonization?

It is really annoying and it happens when the mouse is not moving. It blinks when it does move. Does anyone know how I can fix this?Why does the mouse pointer keep disappearing on civilization IV: colonization?
Hmm...I would see if you have the latest drivers installed for both your mouse and your graphics card. (It's probably not the mouse.) It may just be that the game is using up a lot of the graphics capability of your computer, so you might try lowering the graphics level you've chosen for the game itself in the Options menu.
